Description

On altars and shrines, it’s common to have images of the deities and other spirits we worship. They can be valuable focuses for devotion, and even become imbued with spirit themselves. While many pagans buy statuary from businesses and artisans, there are many good reasons to make your own. It can be an act of meditation and of devotion to craft an icon of your own. (And if you worship less-commonly depicted spirits, there may be no images available!)

Join us for a night of crafting as we make icons of our own using polymer clay! We’ll be led by grove member Traci, the current chief of ADF’s Artisan’s Guild. (Beyond her official capacity, Traci is a painter, a seamstress, a calligrapher, an actress, and a deep believer in the power of art as a devotional act. Visit her Patreon, Mythical Magpie, to see examples of her work.)

A note on accessibility

Due to recent changes in shop layout at The Magical Druid, we no longer have a large upstairs meeting area there and unfortunately it’s too short-notice to get a room at one of the public libraries (our usual fallback); we’ll be meeting in the basement for this event. We recognize that this is not an accessible space for all, and we apologize sincerely to anyone for whom this event is now inaccessible. We’re actively working on scheduling future events in more-accessible spaces. If you have suggestions for free or low-cost spaces, please let us know!

Pay What You Can

Most of Three Cranes Grove’s events are free to the public, but certain workshops, like this one, hold an extra material cost. However, we also recognize that not everyone is able to afford that those costs, and it’s important to us that we make Our Druidry as accessible as possible. Our suggested cost for this workshop is $5, but if that amount is not possible for you, please select a lower amount; we’ve purposefully included a $0 option. Conversely, if you’d like to contribute more, then we welcome you to do so. We are also happy to accept cash — if you intend to pay cash, please still register below, selecting $0, and bring money with you to the event. (After reimbursing the workshop leader for materials, any overage will go into 3CG’s general fund._
